Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She works for ESPN and is an SportsCenter anchor for news. She began working for ESPN as a reporter in 2016. She is the daughter television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from when she was nine years old. This ability that helped her get her first role as an Univision producer assistant Miami. In Miami, she collaborated with producers for television shows that were national, like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. When she was in St. Petersburg, she was hired by the CBS station as the sports reporter. Then she moved to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 to work as a reporter on one of the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. Her stories covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. She was also an anchor and Spanish reporter for the newscast of 5 p.m. and anchor and reporter on the newscast of 9 p.m. on English and again an anchor and reporter for the newscast of 9 p.m. in English, as well Spanish reporter for 10 p.m. Anchor duties on sports and weather was often demanded. She then anchored and reported for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She was a host of sports on the morning show that is Despierta America Deportes. The anchor also worked in the same position for Primer Impacto on UniMas Network, and Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta Collins' parents are originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family moved to Mexico City where she was born on November 22 1985. She's older than her sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico to the US and eventually settled in Miami. Within a brief time her father divorced from her mother and she then remarried in 1995 a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away of kidney carcinoma in 2006. Her residence was with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer in which she was given an opportunity to work. Antonietta was a senior in high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she was looking for. When she was deciding whether Mount Union is the right choice for her, Antonietta visited the campus. As it turned out she loved the campus and that they had the major she was looking for. Her high school graduation was in the spring of 2004 and enrolled into media school at the University. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the director for WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a part. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her, and she in turn, strived to meet his expectations and never let him down.
